ONERAHI LOYALTY POINTS EXPIRY SPARKS SUBURBAN UPRISING

Locals take up arms against expired rewards in a dramatic supermarket showdown.

Well, if you thought loyalty didn’t matter in Onerahi, think again. A recent notice from Pak'nSave regarding expired loyalty points has sent shoppers into a frenzy, with rumours of pitchforks and torches gathering dust in garage corners.

It all started last Thursday, when local bloke Gary pulled out his trusty card only to find out he'd lost a staggering 500 points. "It's bloody ridiculous! I’m not saying I’d have gotten a luxury holiday with that, but it was enough for a free bag of frozen peas at least. Who knew that could stress ya out?" Gary exclaimed, carrying on like a pork chop.

The ensuing chaos resembled a scene from a zombie film, as residents flocked to the supermarket ready for battle. Our mate at the station, Officer John, reported seeing at least three shoppers vying for the last self-checkout with a mildly obstinate machine spitting out ‘Error 404: Humanity Not Found’ as tensions flared. “Never seen a place go from sweet as to stink one so quick,” he said, scratching his head.

Despite the odds, a makeshift protest emerged in the parking lot, featuring placards such as ‘Save the Points’ and ‘Whangarei Deserves Better’. It seems the only loyalty being honored around here these days is to a good old-fashioned bogan uprising. Watch your back, New World, Onerahi is finally taking a stand for those peas!

Honestly, I find the whole situation hilarious. It's just supermarket points, people! Maybe they'll think twice about hoarding those peas next time.

Sharon Ngatai

I have to admit, I'm with the Onerahi folks on this one. Loyalty points are earned money to some, and it seems a bit unfair for them to just vanish like that.

Trevor McLeod

I reckon if people put as much energy into community projects as they do into these protests, we’d have all of Whangarei sorted out by now! Priorities, people.

Janice Walsh

Listen, I don’t blame Onerahi at all. Points are a lifeline for some families. The supermarkets should have clearer guidelines on when they expire!
