Takapuna Schnauzer Leaves Rug in Dust During Epic Nap Battle
Owner says dog's a "real killer" despite snooze-heavy tactics.
Tip from Mark
A Takapuna schnauzer has reportedly out-napped a cowhide rug in what can only be described as the neighbourhood's most intense doze fest. The dog has expertly claimed the spot, leaving the rug looking defeated.
The owner, trying not to snicker, insists the dog is more menacing than her fluffy appearance suggests. "She's got a ruthless streak, especially about naps," they chuckled. The chew toys left casually around her suggest she's comfortable with the win.
Local watcher Janet Briggs is convinced the rug never stood a chance. "It's like a staring contest, but with more sleeping and less action. Frankly, this dog's got more backbone than any of the blokes at the council right now," she noted.
Interior design types are baffled by the dog's nonchalance amidst the clashing decor. "Only in Auckland do you get a rug and a red chair battling it out for aesthetic superiority," said one slightly bemused designer.
A council spokesperson commented that they've got bigger fish to fry, like making light rail more than just a pretty drawing. They've decided that fluffy local showdowns aren't high-priority viewing, but will keep an eye out just in case.
For now, the schnauzer shows no sign of budging. With the rug comprehensively outdone, Takapuna residents can rest assured that suburb wildlife remains peacefully competitive.

What a mad dog! 😂

This is why I love Takapuna. Only here you'd see carpets competing with dogs for dominance. Brilliant stuff!

Lol.

Bloody council won't deal with the real issues, like powerful napping schnauzers claiming territory. It's a bloody pisstake, mate.

Light rail? Yeah, that's a laugh. At least the schnauzer gets something done, unlike them.

Mate, this is the real wildlife in Auckland! Forget birds or possums, we've got rugs and schnauzers duking it out. Nature at its finest.

You know Janet's right. The rug had no chance. I'm just impressed the dog's strategy didn't involve a single bark.

Back in my day, the only rivalry you'd find at home was over who got the TV remote, not rugs and dogs. Times have changed, eh.
