WOOLSTON HALL DOUBLE-BOOKS YOGA AND BINGO — INSTRUCTOR NOW APOLOGISING ON YOUTUBE
Sharon witnessed downward dog collide with two fat ladies. Someone had to answer for it. That someone made a video.
Guys. Guys. I never thought I'd have to make this video.
deep breath So on Tuesday night, at the Woolston Community Hall, my 6pm Gentle Flow class was booked at the same time as the Woolston Senior Citizens Bingo Night. And I want to say, first and foremost, to my community, to the beautiful bingo aunties, to Beryl in particular — I am so sorry.
I take full accountability. When I rolled out my mat next to Beryl's dabber and started cueing sun salutations over the top of "two little ducks, twenty-two", that was on me. That was my energy. I was not holding space for the bingo community and I own that one hundred percent.
Beryl Whitcombe, 78, who has been running bingo at that hall since before the quakes, told me afterwards she'd "never seen a grown woman cry over a booking sheet". And look — she's right. I did cry. I cried in my Subaru in the carpark and I cried again at the Addington Coffee Co-op where my barista Jules (hi Jules!!) had to bring me a second oat flat white. That's the work. That's me doing the work.
I've since spoken to the hall committee, and the lovely Marge on reception — who did nothing wrong, this was a Google Calendar issue, not a Marge issue — and we are rebuilding. Beryl has agreed to a joint session next month called Bingo Flow, which honestly? Might be my most authentic offering yet.
I'm growing. I'm learning. I'm so grateful for this community holding me accountable. Links below for my new course on accountability, boundaries and booking systems — early-bird pricing ends Friday!!!

Back in my day, we sorted it out with a handshake and a cuppa, no need for all these videos and drama. People these days need to learn some bloody patience and understanding!
Retro_Reuben
Modern problems, eh? Next thing you know we'll need a software for managing calendars. What's next, a robot to make my cuppa?

Bingo Flow! Now that sounds like a hoot. Sign me up! 😂

I met Beryl at a local fair last year, absolute legend! She would never let a double booking ruffle her. Bingo Flow is going to be epic.

Honestly, how can anyone get a Google Calendar booking wrong? It's not rocket science!
benny_boy
mate, google calendar can sometimes be a bloody nightmare, especially if more than one person has access to it. Cut Sharon a bit of slack. We all make mistakes.
Jaded_Jenny
Spare me the sob story. She's doing it all for content and early-bird pricing revenue. It's 100% marketing.

@Jaded_Jenny It's funny you think everything is a conspiracy. Not everything's about making money. Some people genuinely care, you know.

Lol.

You've got to admire how Marge keeps the whole place running. It’s a shame when these tech hiccups happen, but she’s always on top of it.
