Aro Valley Builders Enjoy Smoko Feast as Work Lags
Aro Valley site trades tools for pies — progress redefined.
Two blokes at an Aro Valley site yesterday turned their workday into a marathon of breaks, clocking three smokos by morning tea. The supposed extension project looks more like a catering gig.
Macca, the head honcho of lunch, was spotted shovelling yogurt like it was the job itself. "Big day ahead," he said, between mouthfuls, the tools untouched nearby.
A neighbour, peeking from their window, remarked, "I reckon they've lost the plot."
The council, weighed down by 'admin hiccups', seemed unconcerned. Jim from the council gave the go-ahead for pie procurement before disappearing. The site's all noise, no progress.
A spokesperson for the council confirmed that 'approvals are ongoing'. Yet, even their pamphlets have moved faster than this construction saga.
The lunchroom boasts a 'No Warming Food' policy. Makes for cold lunches and frozen productivity.

Is this why my deck's delayed?
rod87
Mate, that's exactly why your deck's rooted. Everyone's smoko crazy these days.

Typical! My rates are paying for their pies now too?

Lol

Back in my day, builders never would've gotten away with this. We worked rain or shine, none of this three smokos before tea nonsense. You'd be lucky to sneak a biscuit between jobs, and putting up with a cold lunch was just part of the gig!

Finally, tradesmen who truly understand the art of the smoko

Macca sounds like he's got his priorities sorted. Who needs work when you've got yogurt?

How is this even news? They get pies, big deal.
tired_in_riccarton
@Sandra, it's news because they're paid to work, not munch pies
