JUDEA SKY DEFIES METSERVICE BY PRODUCING ONE EXTREMELY ANGRY CLOUD
Forecast said sunny. Cloud said otherwise. Cloud won.
A single, visibly furious cloud parked itself over Judea on Wednesday afternoon, contradicting a MetService forecast that promised Tauranga a clear run through to Friday.
The cloud was described by one local as "shaped like a kidney and twice as cross". It sat over Cameron Road for forty minutes, dropping enough rain to ruin a load of washing but not enough to fill the bird bath.
Resident Marlene Whitiora, 58, had hung two duvet covers out at 11am. "MetService reckoned 22 and sunny. I trusted them. That's on me, really!"
A MetService spokesperson said the forecast remained "broadly accurate for the wider Western Bay". Pressed on whether Judea counted as Tauranga, the spokesperson said they'd get back to us.
By 3pm the cloud had drifted toward Greerton, where it was reportedly making things weird above the racecourse. Marlene's duvet covers are still on the line, now wetter than when they went up.
The rest of the Bay had a lovely afternoon, which Marlene heard about from her sister in Papamoa, who would not stop going on about it.

Judea needs its own MetService!

Haha, classic Marlene. Get your sister to help next time!

Marlene should've known better, trusting the MetService! My granny always hung her washing out with a little bit of salt to keep the clouds away.

This bloody council should've built a dome over Judea. Always changes the bloody forecast!

Mate, that’s not how weather works!

I remember the winter of '72—forecast never matched reality. You had to look out the window before stepping out. These days, folks trust MetService over their own eyes!

Cameron Road is where weather goes to misbehave. It's always that one spot. Judea should be considered its own weather zone!

It's just one cloud, people! Use a dryer or move to Papamoa!
