ATAWHAI LIBRARY FINE DEBATE TURNS UGLY, RETIREE BLAMES COUNCIL AND PRICE OF BUTTER

Right well I see the Library up in AUCKLAND is having a big to-do about overdue fines and DIGNITY apparently.. and I'll tell you what.. dignity went out the window the day they let people return books with jam on them... never mind that.. down here at the Atawhai branch we've got our OWN drama.. nobody is reporting on it are they.. NO they are not.. typical.
Margaret from up the road returned her Maeve Binchy THREE WEEKS late.. lovely woman.. husband Gerald passed God rest him. The young girl behind the desk with the RING in her nose if you can believe it told Margaret it was $4.50.. Margaret nearly had a turn right there by the Large Print section. I said to her.. Margaret you tell them where to go.. and she did. Good on her.
Now apparently in AUCKLAND they reckon fines are UNDIGNIFIED.. well I'll tell you whats undignified.. its $11 for a block of butter at the Pak n Save.. nobody seems to mind THAT do they. And dont get me STARTED on the cyclists up Atawhai Drive.. three abreast like they own the road.. which they DONT.. I checked.
A woman from the council said fines were under review.. couldnt have been older than 30.. had one of those laptops. Would be discussed at the next meeting she said. WHICH meeting love.. you wont tell us will you.. because you never DO. Same with the speed bumps on Iwi Road.. one day theyre there next day theyre gone.. its disgusting.
Anyway the library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays.. if you see Sandra tell her I want my casserole dish BACK.. its been since Easter and Im not made of Pyrex.. Like and SHARE if you agree!!! Heather.

Honestly, people expect libraries to be free for all eternity and forget they have to operate on budgets too. How about return your books on time?
