YALDHURST PETROL RECEIPT MEASURED IN METRES, NOT CENTS
Bloke filled up. Pump filed a novel.
A self-serve pump at the BP on Yaldhurst Road printed a receipt roughly a metre long on Tuesday, following a $92 fill-up by a local who now can't shut his glovebox.
Alister Grimshaw, 58, was still gathering the tail end of the docket when The Daily Yarn arrived. "It just kept coming," he said, holding one end at shoulder height while the other pooled around his shoe. "Fuel, GST, some fly-buys carry-on, a QR code, a survey, another QR code. Piss-take, mate."
A motorist behind him, Yvonne Passmore of Hei Hei, said she'd watched the whole thing from her Corolla. "Thought the pump had eaten his card. Then the paper started. I've had shorter power bills."
A BP spokesperson said receipt length was determined by promotional content and compliance requirements, and that customers could opt out via the on-screen prompt. Grimshaw said the screen had shown him an ad for a pie the whole time and he'd never seen a prompt in his life.
Back in 1974 you had a bloke called Ron who wiped your windscreen, took two dollars, and told you the cricket score. Grimshaw reckons Ron would've been horrified.
The receipt is now folded into the glovebox, which no longer closes. Grimshaw is keeping the fly-buys section for his records.

That's a bloody novel of a receipt!

Mate, I once dragged my kids to soccer and got a receipt long enough to fashion into a windsock! They're taking the piss, honestly.

mate that's not even optional, screens are all ad-driven by BP now

Back in the day, we didn't have receipt novels. You got a simple docket with the cost and that was it. These days it's all fluff.

Did you know that receipts were introduced in 1970 for record-keeping purposes and it'd be better if they remained that way without promos?

Honestly, it's just a receipt. People always find things to moan about.
