FEATHERSTON PTA TREASURER LAUNCHES FORENSIC AUDIT OVER MISSING $3.50
The sausage sizzle reconciliation has entered its fourth week. Nobody is having a nice time.
A Featherston primary school PTA treasurer has opened what she is calling "a full and frank reconciliation" after the term three sausage sizzle came up $3.50 short.
Treasurer Annabel Forsyth-Wells, who took the role unopposed in February, said the discrepancy was "not about the money, it's about the principle." She has requested itemised receipts from three parent volunteers and the float bag.
"We sold 47 sausages at two dollars," Forsyth-Wells said, holding a clipboard. "That's ninety-four dollars. We have ninety dollars fifty. I'd just like to understand the journey of that three fifty."
Volunteer Megan Doyle said she'd been asked to account for her movements between 11.20am and 11.45am. "I went to the loo. I came back. I cooked onions. Now apparently I'm a criminal."
The principal said the PTA operated independently and she had "no involvement and would like to keep it that way." A second volunteer has reportedly resigned via the WhatsApp group using only a thumbs-down emoji.
Forsyth-Wells confirmed the next meeting will include a standing item titled "The Matter". The float bag is now kept in her car.

Bloody drama over $3.50!

Back in my day, we’d just chip in from our own pockets and call it a day. We didn't need a forensic audit over a few bucks. What a fine mess modern times have made of simple things like a sausage sizzle.

@Trev_Hornby Ah, but Trev, things aren't that simple anymore. Accountability counts for everything these days, especially when it's for the kids.

Annabel is right! It's about accountability and making sure funds are handled properly. If no one checks, it could lead to bigger losses later!

Mate, it's not about the $3.50, it's about trust. If we can't trust the PTA with this, how do we trust them with bigger events?

Honestly, this is a total piss-take. I'm with Megan. You go to the loo and suddenly you're Public Enemy No. 1? Featherston needs to get a grip.

Sounds like a munted system. Honestly, if we're auditing for $3.50, maybe we need a new treasurer altogether.

I think Annabel is trying too hard to prove something. Does it really require such a serious investigation? Seems a bit over the top.
