FEILDING NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH LAUNCHES FORMAL INQUIRY INTO WHEELIE BIN ALIGNMENT
Three bins. One kerb. One retired man with a clipboard.
A Feilding neighbourhood watch group has opened a formal review into three wheelie bins on Kimbolton Road. Members say the alignment is 'not consistent with community standards.'
The complaint was lodged Tuesday. It alleges the bins were at 'irregular intervals' and the yellow one was 'facing the wrong way, deliberately.' Property owner Raewyn Corstorphine, 61, said she puts them out at 6.47am every week. 'These people need a hobby,' she said. 'Or a stroke.'
Watch coordinator Malcolm Verrall, retired, said the group photographed the scene from three angles. He cross-referenced them against 'the accepted layout' agreed at February's meeting. 'The lids were not uniform. One was ajar. We take that seriously in Feilding.'
A second complainant, who declined to be named because she 'still has to live here', said the bins had been 'creeping' toward her driveway. 'Started flush with the letterbox. Now they're on my begonias. It's a piss-take.'
Palmerston North City Council confirmed there is no bylaw on bin orientation. A spokesperson suggested residents 'perhaps go for a walk somewhere else.' They added the Manawatu wind 'moves bins around, which is not a criminal matter.'
Mr Verrall is drafting a diagram for the next meeting. Mrs Corstorphine has moved her bins six inches to the left. Mr Verrall called this 'provocative.'

This is the most Feilding story ever. People here need to chill.

Lol.

Why are they even bothering? Bins drift around all the time! The wind’s rooted everything.

Mate, it's not that hard to align bins properly. Just lazy if you ask me.

@Wayne1987 You ever tried it on a windy day? Those bins are determined!

Bloody hell, this is what happens when people have too much time on their hands.

Feilding’s had a tradition of community standards since forever, but this is ridiculous. Back in my day, issues like this were sorted out over a cuppa, not a clipboard. If anything, just knock on their door and have a word.
Jill_from_Homebush
@oldschoolTrev Exactly, mate. Less clipboards, more cuppas, and everyone would get along!
